About Therapy

On other pages of this website you may notice the terms "client-centered," "emotionally-focused," and "differentiation-based." These terms are the best descriptions of how I approach therapy.

I have yet to encounter a method of therapeutic intervention that resonates with everyone, so I start with you and your needs. Also, this is how my brain works; I individualize by default.

In general, I will encourage you to recognize, embrace, and validate your emotions.

As you become more comfortable with your authentic feelings, emotional differentiation becomes accessible. Emotional differentiation is a process that begins with self-awareness, grows into self-validation and accountability, and allows you to enact your core values. Clients find that their relationships shift with this process, frequently in ways that are more deeply satisfying.

Given the personal nature of therapy, I encourage clients to attend in person when possible. Couples especially benefit from in-person sessions. I base this opinion on having worked with couples who struggled to make progress via telehealth, but turned their relationships around after switching to office visits.

I understand that there are barriers to in-person therapy, so we will make this decision together depending on your situation. I use the secure telehealth platform on Simple Practice for all virtual sessions.

I am committed to addressing implicit forms of societal oppression within myself and in the ways I relate to you. While we cannot change external injustices in therapy, we can work toward changing how these messages live inside us. I am open to these conversations as they feel relevant to you.

About Me

I received my education in Couple and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle. I became a Brainspotting therapist because Brainspotting changed my life, and I wanted to share this transformational modality with others.

I enjoy strength training, hiking with my dogs, tending to house plants, reading novels, and learning about how people live around the world. Human variety fascinates me.

I am also a mother, a spouse, and a sister. I cultivate friendships with other kind people who are deep thinkers.
